Pawn of his Own
Suppose that you are a member of a collective group. What tactics would you use to remain in your place?
In life, both animals and humans can go with the flow, be influenced by others, step out from the mass or take just a step away...
But… What is influencing our decisions?
Pawn of his Own is a mix of gestures and behaviours, seen and played like a game of chess without rules.
The idea for Pawn of his Own, came after reading a book of David Sumpter called Collective Animal Behavior about the study of collective animal behaviours and how interactions between animals produce group patterns. Analysing animal behaviours we can understand that they, like us, are involved into systems, routines, relationships and various ways of communication with each other and the mass.
I collected ideas and thoughts to find clear examples of similarities between human and animal behaviours which I could transform into movements creating a new and very specific movement vocabulary .
